Terms of Service

tl;dr

Be a good citizen, follow the Acceptable Use Policy, don't break the service on purpose. We can suspend abusive accounts. The product is pre-release and may have bugs.

Eligibility

You must be 16 or older to use baatao during the closed beta. If your local law requires a higher minimum age to consent to data processing, that age applies to you.

Your account

• You're responsible for what you publish, including the positions you defend and the comments you post.
• You may not transfer your account, share credentials, or use automation against the API.
• We may suspend accounts that violate the Acceptable Use Policy (Phase 1: manual review by the founder; appeal by email).

Debate content

• By starting or accepting a debate, you consent to the live phase being recorded and the recording being published on the site after the post-vote window closes.
• You keep ownership of what you say. You grant baatao a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host and display the recording, transcript, and any comments you post, for the purpose of running the service.
• You can request deletion of your own debate recordings via the report flow (mark target_type=debate) — we'll process within 14 days unless the request is itself abusive (e.g., a debater trying to erase a debate they lost).

Service availability

During the closed beta we will not promise uptime, response time, or data permanence. We may take the service offline for upgrades. We may end the closed beta and migrate to a paid public product; if we do, beta users will get advance notice.

Liability

The service is provided “as is” during the closed beta. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury).
