Why baatao exists
baatao is a place to argue ideas, face to face, in ten minutes. One person picks a topic and a side. Another accepts. The audience picks the winner.
We built baatao because most platforms reward people who shout louder, post oftener, and never engage with people they disagree with. Debates here are short, live, and recorded. You can’t edit a clip into something you didn’t mean. You can’t hide behind a thread. You have to actually show up.
What we’re betting on
- Real-time, real faces. Asynchronous fights aren’t arguments. They’re performances.
- Audience as judge. Vote weight is earned, not bought.
- Honest moderation. Removals are disclosed. Appeals go to a different human.
- No paid leverage. No paid votes, no paid verification, no behavioral ads. Ever.
Where we are
Closed beta. A few dozen invited users debating across categories. Public launch happens when the core flows are boring — when nothing surprising breaks in two weeks of live use.
The full roadmap lives in the repo. The help center documents how moderation, voting, and recordings actually work — if it doesn’t match what you see in the product, that’s a bug.
Who builds this
Small team. Founder + engineers + a part-time designer. We’d rather ship one honest version of the product than five aspirational ones.
