Privacy Policy

tl;dr

You are testing a pre-release product. We collect only what we need to run the debate flow, and we don't sell or share it. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

What we collect

• Account: email, password hash (scrypt), username, display name, bio, avatar, cover image, the settings you choose on /settings.
• Debates: the topic + position text you write, the recording + thumbnail from any debate you take part in, the transcript of that recording, comments + chat messages you post.
• Votes: which side you voted for, the weighted score we assigned to your vote, and the time you cast it.
• Operational: IP address, user-agent, login + sensitive-action audit log (kept 90 days), error reports (Sentry), rate-limit counters (Redis, expire automatically).

How we use it

• Run the product: authentication, debate matching, video, recording.
• Keep it safe: rate limiting, abuse review, moderator queue.
• Improve it during the beta: read your feedback emails, watch anonymous usage patterns. We do not use any third-party analytics tracker (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel).

Who we share it with

• Cloudflare (edge + Turnstile bot protection).
• Resend (transactional email — verification, password reset).
• Sentry (error monitoring; we redact body data).
• Our hosting provider for the Postgres + Redis + LiveKit boxes.

We do not sell or rent your data.

Retention

• Recordings of published debates: kept while the debate is public. Deleted within 30 days of the debate being deleted.
• Audit logs: 90 days.
• Closed beta lifetime: when the closed beta ends and we move to a public release, we'll email every beta user a chance to delete their account before we open signups.

Your rights

Email privacy@baatao.com and we'll handle access, export, or deletion within 14 days.

Changes

During the closed beta we may iterate this page weekly. Material changes will be emailed to all beta users.
